Our story
Mellina La Rocca spent fifteen years commissioning packaging and processing equipment — first in São Paulo, then across Northern California — before registering Sigma Delta Engineering LLC in Milpitas in 2016. The frustration that started the company was consistent across every plant: integrators disappeared after start-up, documentation never arrived, and the maintenance team was left to reverse-engineer a system they were expected to own.
So the company was built around the opposite habits. Written scope before work. Off-line testing before commissioning. Training and drawings as deliverables rather than favours. Nine years later the majority of our work still comes from plant managers who worked with us at a previous employer.
We stay small deliberately. There is no bench of junior engineers to keep busy, which means we turn down work that does not fit — and say so on the first call.

Owner & Principal Engineer
Fifteen years in commissioning and controls across packaging, food processing and electronics assembly in Brazil and California. Leads scoping, safety review and client delivery on every engagement. Works in English and Portuguese.
Three senior engineers
Rockwell, Siemens, Omron and Beckhoff platforms; safety architecture; servo and VFD commissioning. Each engineer carries a project from design through site acceptance.
Two specialists
Historian and SQL modelling, dashboard development, as-built drafting in AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN, and the operator documentation that ships with every project.
