Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the choices you have. Written in plain English, without boilerplate we do not actually follow.
Last updated: March 4, 2026 · Applies to https://sigmadelta.com.br
1. Who we are
Sigma Delta Engineering LLC ("Sigma Delta", "we", "us") is an industrial automation and controls engineering consultancy owned by Mellina La Rocca and located at 643 Dundee Ave, Milpitas, CA 95035, USA. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Our website is https://sigmadelta.com.br.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and in the course of providing engineering services, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with and what rights you have. It applies to visitors to this website, prospective clients, clients and their personnel, suppliers and job applicants.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Enquiry details. Name, company, business email, telephone number, the service you selected and the description of your situation, when you use the contact form or write to us directly.
- Project information. Documents you send us during an engagement, such as drawings, fault logs, tag lists and specifications. These may incidentally include names of your staff.
- Commercial records. Purchase orders, invoices, insurance certificates and correspondence necessary to perform and account for a contract.
- Application materials, if you apply to work with us.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records IP address, requested URL, timestamp, referring page, user agent and response status for security and troubleshooting purposes.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Only strictly necessary storage is used unless you consent to analytics or advertising cookies. See the Cookie Policy.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not ask for sensitive categories of personal information. Please do not send us social security numbers, health information or payment card details through this website.
4. Why we use it and on what basis
| Purpose | Information used | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Responding to enquiries and preparing proposals | Enquiry details | Your request / our legitimate interest in conducting business |
| Delivering engineering services under contract | Project and commercial records | Performance of a contract |
| Invoicing, accounting and tax records | Commercial records | Legal obligation |
| Website security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting | Server logs | Legitimate interest |
| Measuring website and advertising performance | Analytics / advertising cookie data | Your consent |
| Occasional service updates to existing clients | Business contact details | Legitimate interest; opt-out in every message |
5. Advertising and measurement
We advertise our services on search engines, which may include Microsoft Advertising and Google Ads. Where you have consented to advertising cookies, a conversion tag may record that a visit to this site followed an advertisement, so we can measure which campaigns produce genuine enquiries. This measurement is aggregated. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertising platforms for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are used under California law. If you reject non-essential cookies, no advertising or analytics tags are loaded.
6. Who we share information with
- Service providers acting on our instructions: website hosting, email hosting, accounting software, document storage and, where applicable, analytics and advertising platforms.
- Partner panel shops and specialist subcontractors, where necessary to deliver a project and under confidentiality terms.
- Professional advisers, insurers and auditors, where required.
- Authorities, where we are legally obliged to disclose information.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Client technical documentation is treated as confidential and is never used as a marketing reference without written permission.
7. International transfers
We are based in California and our website is hosted on servers in the United States. Because the owner supports clients with Brazilian operations, project correspondence may be processed in Brazil. Where information moves between countries we rely on contractual safeguards with the parties involved.
8. How long we keep information
| Record type | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that do not become projects | 24 months from last contact |
| Project and engineering records | 7 years after project close-out (warranty, liability and audit needs) |
| Invoices and accounting records | 7 years, as required by tax rules |
| Website server logs | 90 days |
| Cookie consent record | 12 months, then you are asked again |
| Unsuccessful job applications | 12 months, unless you ask us to keep them longer |
9. Security
We apply measures proportionate to a small engineering firm handling sensitive plant documentation: access limited to personnel who need it, multi-factor authentication on business accounts, encrypted laptops and backups, TLS on this website, and confidentiality obligations in every subcontract. No system is completely secure; if a breach affects your information we will notify you and any regulator as required by law.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and obtain a copy;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep;
- object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing;
- withdraw cookie consent at any time using the cookie settings link;
- not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
California residents may exercise the rights described in the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, including the right to know, delete and correct, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing — which does not apply to us because we do neither. To make a request, email contact@sigmadelta.com.br with enough detail for us to identify your records. We will not charge a fee and may ask you to verify your identity. An authorised agent may act for you with written permission.
11. Do Not Track and global privacy signals
This website loads no analytics or advertising technology before consent, so a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser has the same practical effect as rejecting non-essential cookies: nothing beyond strictly necessary storage is used.
12. Third-party links and embedded content
The contact page embeds a map served by OpenStreetMap so you can find our office. Loading that map means your browser contacts OpenStreetMap's servers, which may log your IP address under their own policy. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
13. Changes to this policy
We review this policy at least annually. Material changes are announced with a revised "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the change affects an active engagement, by email to our client contact.
